Youth Recreational Leagues

A youth house recreational league for ages 8 thru 18 that is dedicated to the advancement of youth ice hockey by ensuring meaningful opportunities and an enjoyable experience in a safe, controlled, and sportsmanlike environment.  Player development and skills are the main focus in a fun and exciting atmosphere.  Teams are drafted and balanced.  Coaches also follow the rule of "everyone plays".  During team practices, the coaches work on team play, player development, and skill development.  The league features consistent scheduling, jerseys, ISI insurance, playoffs, championship trophies, and year-end awards.

The Fall Youth Recreational League runs from November 1st through March.

The Spring Youth League is similar to the fall recreational league.  It is for ages 8 thru 18 and also focuses on player development and skills in a fun and exciting atmosphere.  Each game, new teams are picked by the coach to allow all players to play with and against each other.  The referee controls the game and also helps teach team play, player development, and other skills.

The Spring Youth Recreational League begins at the end of March.

Hockey at a Fun Pace (HAFP) is a skate for beginners, intermediates, and other players that want to have fun, impove their game and get a good workout.  Players have a lot of fun, get lots of ice time, touch the puck a lot, and get the benefit of imporving their skills.

For Monday (9:15 pm), Thursday (9:15 pm) and Saturday (6:45 am) ice times please email Dr David Sime or Tom Herman

Polar Power Skating

Polar Power Skating is one of the best programs we offer.  Power skating is the most important component in the sport of ice hockey.  Without being a strong, powerful skater, players will be left behind.

Polar Power Skating features proper stride development, quick turns, stops and starts, crossovers, agility, lateral movement, and skating with speed with the puck.

Elite Training

The Elite Training program works on all aspects of your game at a fast and intense pace.  The goal of this program is to do everything at game speed.  Class size is limited to 6 skaters to have a more 1 on 1 personal training experience and sessions are 1 hour long.  Each training session will concentrate on the following aspects - skating, shooting, puck handling, offensive and defensive positioning, quick hands and feet, and quick decision making.  Drills are desinged to be as game like as possible.

Goalies contact the Rhino office for scheduling.

Cactus Cup and Tumble Weed Cup 3 on 3 Full Ice Leagues

The 3 on 3 leagues are played on full ice.  This helps players become more creative and work on their play making skills.  Players develop a better "hockey sense" and the ability to "see" the ice better and how plays develop.  This is also a great way to work on players conditioning.

The Cactus Cup runs in the summer,  The Tumble Weed Cup runs in the fall.

Championship trophies for both leagues will be hung in the SPEC for age division winners.  Player and goalie stats will be kept for individual awards.
